The Ukraine is is a country in Europe that borders Romania, Poland, Russian and a few other smaller countries. In English, it is popularly known as “The Ukraine,” though the actual name of the country is simply Ukraine. The country has a rich history, full of culture and intrigue. Ukraine had a role in both World War I and World War II as a part of the Russian empire before it became an independent nation in 1990.
Ukraine is a popular tourist destination, as it contains beautiful architecture that is hundreds of years old. Because Ukraine is known for its extensive architecture, these are the types of tourist destinations sought after the most.
The Freedom Square in Kharkiv is a popular location. It is a beautifully designed city center that happens to be the third largest in all of Europe.
Another getaway spot is Balaklava Harbour located in Crimea. This is a beautiful, blue harbor popular for yachting and daytime getaways.
The St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral is another striking landmark with billowing golden roofs and bright blue walls, it has recently been restored to its former glory since the Ukraine got its independance, it can be found in Kiev.
Biking is an excellent activity for travelers who wish to see some of the countryside and enjoy the crisp Mediterranean climate as well.
The capital in Ukraine is Kiev, a beautiful city that is truly the heart of the country. The cuisine there is quite fatty and the hotels can offer some unpleasant surprises outside of the city. Ukraine has the eighth highest tourism numbers in the world and has more than 180 airports throughout the country.
